Thanks been waiting for this lol. Doing a clean install right now (do this with every new update lol plus doesn't hurt since google saves all your settings lol)

Courtney, every update is a complete replacement OS that never changes. Using Powerwash to delete your saved settings and files will produce the exact same result as a clean install.

You do not need to reinstall the OS.

Ah OK I didn't know that's how chrome OS updated in all honesty. Figured a clean install through usb every time would ensure there's no corruption or anything but now knowing automatic updates are like a clean install might stop updating this way lol.

Anyway still going to download the new versions whenever they come out to usb just in case I really need to reinstall again though but thanks for the info.

Probably puts less stress on my hard drive if it just auto updates besides deleting and reinstalling every time.

FYI, the link for the image zip archive automatically downloads the newest version of cloudready. Had to dig through some old forum posts to find the link for 46.1 when I had some issues installing 47.1.

I've run into an issue with 47.1 on my Asus 1225B - whenever I wake it from a long sleep with the lid closed it will not connect to my WiFi again until I go through the whole "Join other..." process (as the network does not broadcast SSID). I've checked and the network is listed in the Preferred networks list when this happens. Never ran into this issue using 46.1. I'll test this out on the 64-bit version once it's available and let you know how it goes. Other then that, I'm really enjoying CloudReady - thanks for keeping my old netbook relevant and useful!

Has the OTA been pushed? I have two laptops that are on 46,1.20, both so "Your device is up to date." when I check for updates in "About Chromium OS".

David C - Open a new thread with this info if you have a chance we'll file some bug reports together.

    Darren:
The OtA is up, but we us a service to spread the downloads out so they reduce latency - this could be delaying your receiving updates.

    Other possibilities:

    1) Your computers haven't been left awake and connected for a long enough time to download the update (give them an overnight if you haven't)
    2) You're using USB boot which can't OtA update
    3) You're using our paid product (or a free trial of our paid product) which isn't yet updated.
    4) You're on a protected, filetered, or firewalled network and need to update via home network

    Hi Forrest,

I'll add my info to the following post by Isky Hassan as it looks to be the same issue:

Not sure what you mean. Can we get a link? Probably more useful in a separate thread.

    oxylee -

VLC requires 64-bit (which is coming this week we hope). The other one I'm not sure about, but it probably isn't because of the local install.

Im still not getting the OTA on either of my devices. Has it been been made available to all devices yet?

Darren1 - The timeline on OTAs is currently unclear - I recommend you take the time to reinstall.

I also still haven't received any OTA. If I check manually it says I have the latest version.

I don't mind waiting, but will OTA come at some point? The fact you offer OTA's is what attracted me to Cloudready.

Eh, this thread started with the announcement that the OTA was available? And now, a week later, it is not available?

Hm that 64 bit seems to take longer. Awh I was excited about this.

Hi there, still waiting for OTA of V.47 - check update is still saying device up to date v.46. has there been some delay? Over 10 days now?

My computer pulled down 47.1 before the announcement post, so updates *were* working at some point.

I checked the update server (https://cloudready-free-update-server.neverware.com/) a couple of times in the past few days and it doesn't seem to be responding.

Hi trisk, thanks for the note regarding the update server. If the server can't be reached would the laptop report 'up-to-date' even if it can't check? Not had any official word on the update status. Has it been pulled from OTA for some reason?

Any update on the OTA installed this hoping to not have to worry much about this computer anymore but it still isn't updating. Says up to date if I check.

Really dislike companies that does this - sticks their head in the sand and hopes the problems will go away.

Neverware, if there was a problem with the OTA and you pulled it, just say so!

Since the whole server is offline, maybe it got hacked? That is usually something that companies does not like to admit to.

Edit: Found another thread where there has been a reply that kind of confirms there is a problem and it also seems it is identified.

    Hi Everyone -

A broader announcement and explanation will be coming today - we've had updates turned off for a couple days as we investigate something internally.

Sorry for any frustration it has cause, Thomas and anyone else.

We'll be re-releasing within the next day or two with improvements and 64-bit support, if all goes as planned this morning.

Thanks for the info Forrest looking forward to the improvements and 64 bit support (going to try it out right when it gets released,Yeah 32 bit is fine but my laptop is 64 bit and would rather use that lol.)
