Switching CloudReady Release Channels

  • Milou

I have got updated to v54 via beta channel today.
    Version 54.0.2840.92 (64-bit)
Platform 54.1.25 (Developer Build - neverware)

  • Chris Smith

I am trying to switch to the beta channel but it remains on stable even with reboot.

    I am on 56.0.2924.122 (64-bit)

    Any idea why?

  • Inna Levinson

Chris, are you live booting off the USB stick? if yes, the settings won't persist.

  • Ray Foss

I am expecting a version number change when switching from stable to alpha, but I did not notice anything. I'm still on 59.0.3071.135 and my mouse pad moves erratically. Ubuntu works perfectly fine though.

Beta or Dev channel no alpha. Is it installed to HD or SSD? If this is a USB it will not update.

  • Ray Foss

@Phil-Reilly NeverWare is installed to disk. On an HD. By beta I meant the option that's under Beta.

I'm just trying to get better synaptic drivers... i've read reconfiguring the input config file sometimes works, but I would have to put it on developer mode.

I went to settings, and couldn't find About Chromium OS anywhere, went to help on the Chromium menu, there it is, and when you click on it, it takes you to  the chromium OS entries in settings.

  • Joseph Honnoll

Go to the Click-Setting on the Left-Bottom Corner then Settings | Click Left-Side icon where Settings is titled | Click "About Chromium OS" then Detailed Build Information then you should be able to switch

I have installed cloudready locally on the device and when I go to change the channel from stable to beta the pop up states that it needs to powerwash and reboot to install the beta. Powerwash is disabled so it never reboots and never installs the beta version. Can I make a bootable recovery tool with the latest beta image? I tried to find a repository but couldn't find anything.. any ideas?

  • Joseph Honnoll

Hmm that's weird I've seen that before but I just restart without doing that option

  • Chase Barnett

Yeah, from what I was reading it doesn't seem to be the norm. I'm reinstalling it now to see if that is it. I'll see if i can grab a video of it too
