32bit images of CloudReady will no longer be offered or supported for the Education and Enterprise Editions of CloudReady starting in August of 2019.
This policy is designed to provide ample time for customers and users to transition from 32bit CloudReady over to our 64bit images where they can expect long term support.
Between now and August of 2019, we will be following up with customers to assist in this transition.
There are two major considerations as you prepare for this change:
Retiring 32bit-only Hardware
Certain hardware, based on CPU architecture, are only compatible with 32bit CloudReady images. These devices (including the 12 certified models marked as “32bit Only” on our list), will need to be phased out, replaced, or switch to a different operating system by August 2019. Starting then, those devices will be officially unsupported and no new updates will be available.
Reinstalling to Switch to 64bit CloudReady
A larger group of machines are capable of running the latest 64bit CloudReady builds, but happen to be running the 32bit version of CloudReady. These machines can continue to use CloudReady well past August of 2019, but they need to be reinstalled to use their 64bit version of CloudReady before that time in order to receive updates going forward.
