Installed CloudReady on an obsolete Dell Vostro v130 shipped with Ubuntu 8.0, updated to 17.04. Chrome ended support for 32-bit machines. Chromium still supports the platform, but too many OS apps started breaking. My solution: CloudReady. Installation was easy and mostly without a hitch (2 PNY 8 GB thumb drives failed; an older 16 GB SanDisk Cruzer came to the rescue).
My wife's Chromebook boots in 5 seconds to the log-in screen, while my machine takes 50-60 seconds. An SSD for $60 should cut the boot time way down and give me more battery life. I'm stoked.
Love the decision to keep and convert my beloved Dell Vostro v130 to a Chromium OS-Book using CloudReady's solution! Thanks Neverware!!
