So I might be pushing the limits here, but I had to give it a shot. I love the ChromeOS and I wanted to make my PC my one stop shop. So I installed the home edition (which is great by the way) then added the Crouton with Unity-Desktop and have been absolutely amazed at how much faster it is then just Ubuntu by itself. So I have two minor requirements that still require me to run Windows:
1. I teach a Visual Basic.NET class and there is no IDE that allows a visual designer outside of Windows
2. I have financial program that only runs in Windows (tried with WINE and it didn't play well because it requires a USB hard token)
With that said, I have put almost 40 hours into trying to get CloudReady to run VirtualBox in crouton (which can be done on a chromebox) but I keep getting stuck on one step; "Disable module_locking for loading the vboxdrv kernel modules".
I have tried everything I can think of but the road block is when I run make_dev_ssd I get "ERROR: Write protection is still enabled. Please verify that hardware write protection is disabled."
Has anybody tried this or figured out the solution?
