Can I start Chromium OS by launching some desktop app?
Hello everybody.
I really don't know if this is the right place for this post. I would like to know if it is possible to start Chromiun by launching a desktop app (for example, whatsapp) and not Chrome Browser (or with Chrome browser minimised). I have installed Chromium OS (Via CloudReady) on an old 32-bit notebook.
Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you want - (technically called - Progressive Web App)
Go to whatsapps webpage
or https://web.skype.com/ or https://www.google.com/gmail/ i.e whatever site you want.
Click three dots top right > more tools > create shortcut.
This will put a shortcut in your launcher (not taskbar), open in launcher then right it in taskbar and click pin to keep in taskbar at bottom.
You can choose to have this open in it's own Window or as just another tab in you open tabs. To choose right click it in taskbar, move mouse to arrow next to new tab then either select new tab or new window. Whichever you choose (put dot in circle) will be what happens when you left click it.
On right click menu there are options to uninstall and app info where various settings can be changed.
Some sites put a + in a circle next to the bookmarks star and you can just click that instead of going to create shortcut in the menu.

There's even some sites dedicated to PWAs

Some websites have separate web address for PWA. For example, www.starbucks.com is a regular website but app.starbucks.com is the PWA version with a different layout. In this case, you will not get PWA capabilities when visiting the regular website.
