My other desktop PC is a M1 MacMini. As my previous iMac is still working after 14 years (with a new SSD) I look forward to Cloudready v299 (ARM) running on the MacMini in a decade or so.
The iMac used to be on Neverwear's approved list, but has been removed as too old. It still runs CROS v89.4.44 just fine.
Re: the CTL, I get the huge RAM if I want a few thousand browser windows or Linux apps running, but 2 TB storage? On my CN60 w/16GB SSD CROS takes 8GB for system. On the iMac with 120GB SSD it grabs 40GB or so. How much storage will be taken on the CTL?
A really neat trick would be to get a touch version of Cloudready to run on my out of date iPad. That would be sweet.

I tend to need big hard drives because I'm backing up for family or doing some thing else with big data. Also for work need it too.
I just got an Office 365 account and I uploaded 800gb in a week already. I burnt the cables at the local phone exchange and had to call them out. Happens once a year or so.
Now Google photos is not free unlimited even more data will go to Office 365 or more local drives. Also will probably buy more Google storage so as to have two Cloud options.
I do Google takeout on my google accounts for emergency access / backup every now and then too. Cloud is the way, but still like local copies just in case.
I am pretty good at using machines for a long time, still using Win 7 with a 7200rpm HD, 2nd gen i5, 4gb RAM. That just for those need something Windows occasion so don't mind it slow. Though will replace with something shiny new when Chrome stops getting updates on it. The CR machine I was using for 3 years before Jan 21 had a 5200rpm HD.
As long as my daily driver machine is fastish I don't mind how old it is.
Hardware speeds seem to be growing faster than useful software creations, I just think machines will keep their initial speed for longer and longer. The only really useful software addition in the last 15 years for me has been tabbed browsing. Microsoft keep trying to add things to Windows but they realise no one uses them so eventually it gets buried. Software seems to have largely peaked where hardware hasn't. Even if software does grow, Cloud computing will mean it shouldn't slow things down too much. Microsoft know this, they know buying of new Win Lic is slowing, that's why they want everyone on monthly subscriptions.
Those Mac minis are nice and good value. Trouble is all my family want laptops, so all these little machines would be great for me, I can't really buy them because I need things I can pass onto my family.
So yeah the mac mini or ctl dream is over, thanks for crushing my dreams guys :-(

In my "brane", CloudReady would be a nice addition to the Deep Brain Stimulus! -
Spider-Ham ? we know it's you Space Piggy.

SpacePiggy, Here is the complete Spider-Ham collection.
Then there is QMx Spider-Ham Q-Fig Diorama. If a statue of Space Piggy is needed! I like how the statue is attached to the base.
