There a possibility that CloudReady is the issue, yeah. We tested Windows 7, 8, and 10 updates during QA of dualboot, but not all updates are equal, so you may be running into trouble.

Maybe your machine doesn't have enough space for a major update?

You can probably check the CloudReady-is-the-issue hypothesis by deleting it (use Windows disk manager to delete all partitions and reabsorb into main Windows partition) and updating.

Whether it works or not, you can always reinstall CloudReady easily.

Thanks Forrest.   Plenty of space on the Windows side for a major update, so I'm guessing that's not it. Too bad it didn't give me an error code or more info as to why it failed.

I did remove the CloudReady partitions and Win 10 updated without a problem.  Should there have been a second UEFI partition? That struck me as curious...

    Thanks again for the help.

Yeah, there are supposed to be two UEFI partitions - Windows has an EFI partitions and CloudReady has two I think (for the double-buffered update system).

I managed to update Windows insider by enabling secure boot on the BIOS, after the update disable it again to access cloud ready.
