Yes you can. V56 is what you'd want. Also to disable updates LINK

@Joseph how do I do that?

  • Neal Borad

How would I take the .zip and make it into a USB installer?

  • Joseph

Simply open the zip file and extract the .Bin file and open the recover tool for Chrome and under the settings tab select the file then of course plug in the USB stick. After that boot the USB and install CR then once in CR after installed read the link provided

Keep in mind that we do not have access to get into the OS. It goes black before we can do anything. I need to do a fresh install of the older version.

  • Joseph

Yes correct but keep in mind that your laptop isn't on the support list

So, is there no way to make a USB installer from the zip file?

  • Joseph

Yes, you have a extract the .Bin file from the zip file and use the Google Chrome browser recovery tool on a windows pc

  • Neal Borad

Do not see a recovery tool.

  • Joseph

Look under chrome extensions or the chrome apps in start menu. Just search for recovery tool in the extensions store in Chrome

But please bare in mind that your laptop isn't on the support list yet

This is the tool. It works on the .zip file, no need to unzip it the CRU will do it.

Is there anywhere I can download v65?

  • Joseph

The Last Version they got for Download is V59.2 in BLOGs though afterwords you can update it or Disable the Updates if you Wish LINK

    Hi,

You can download v63.3 here  to see if that works.

What version are your E550s updating from? Have you tried pointing them at the dev-channel to see if v67 works better?

Another thing to check - do your E550s have any BIOS settings about "switchable" or "optimus" graphics? If you can, set them to explicitly disable those, or to enable only Intel graphics (if those settings are present).

  • Neal Borad

The latest was I think 66.3. I am pretty sure that 66.4 is what is breaking it. How do I point to the v67?

  • Joseph

67 won't be able to download as it is in Dev Build still. Only people who have CR installed can download/test. It'll be a couple of weeks till 67 is released for stable version

  • Forrest Smith

If you can install on an older version (v63.3), you can then follow these instructions to try out v67:
