"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

    Hi Gary,

Does this happen reliably for you regardless of how you run it?

Do you have a different Windows computer to try it on?

Is the usb maker .exe file located on the USB you are trying to write to? It's possible that the application is crashing because it is overwriting itself.

Make sure to put the .exe file on your OS drive, not the USB, and try again.

Please let us know if that resolves the issue for you

This has happened to me also, i have tried 2 computers. I'm running the .exe file from the OS drive/Desktop, the USB i'm writing to is 16GB and blank.

    Hi Graeme,

Maybe you already installed so many  version of Visual C++( 2005, 2008, 2010, etc) in your PC and making the conflicts between them. Try to get rid of the versions of Visual C++ that you no longer need, it might help you.

If this didn't work, you could use Chromebook Recovery Utility to create a Cloudready USB bootable. This is an easier and safer way than checking the problem with Visual C++.You can see more detail here: https://guide.neverware.com/build-installer/working-windows/#before-you-begin
