Have you installed all plugins available on the setting yet? After install them, run your files again with VLC media player.

Where do I find those plugins ?

  • nangtienngu

Click on the clock at the bottom right of the screen to open the setting. As I remember, you can find it near the top of the setting sections.

I don't understand, which are the settings I should change?

  • nangtienngu

Did you see the gear icon when you double click at the clock?

  • Jordan Lavenuta

    Yeah I did

Click on that icon and scrow down to the Media section. You’ll see that there are two plugins under that. Install all of them

Look at the “optional: install Adobe flash and proprietary media codes” section for more detail: https://neverware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001554568-How-Do-I-Install-CloudReady-?mobile_site=true

I did that, still no sound :( I confirm I have sound on Youtube or Netflix for example

    Jordan,

If you have all plugins installed and have rebooted, then the sound output issues with your mkv file might be OS-specific, or a bug with the local media player.

I'm not having any issues playing mkv files on my machine - try going to this site and searching for and downloading the mkv example there. Does sound play for that file?

    Hello Forrest Smith,

The samples works just fine with VLC, cannot succeed to open it with the original media player.

Downloaded a 1Gb .mkv files, VLC is running very slow and crashing :(

MKV files are not fully supported even on a real Chromebook because they are contains so many codes. In my opinion, you should convert your files to another videos format supported on Cloudready( for example: MP4).

    Jordan,

Are you using VLC from the web store?

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vlc/obpdeolnggmbekmklghapmfpnfhpcndf?hl=en

    Or a flatpak of VLC?

  • Jordan Lavenuta

I used VLC from chrome web store! I don't know why, but I made a fresh install and now all works perfectly ! I have sound + video working just fine, even on heavy files.

Still I have an issue with VLC: why can't I add subtitles ? when I put the same name on the .srt file and .mkv file, VLC confirms me it exists a sub file but for some reason it just doesn't show... anyone has a fix please ??

Thank you for your support !

  • Forrest Smith

Sorry you'll probably need to contact VLC about that issue. Glad everything else is working though!
