I have an old Macbook pro 15 inch from 2008 (Intel core 2 duo -2.66) that was gathering dust. I decided to make it a Chromebook unfortunately I ran into difficulty installing it.
The issue is that once I plug in the USB stick, select it (on start up press the option key) I end with either a black screen or sometimes after a minute or two it turns white and the logo of cloudready appears.
What have I done so far (I use 8gb usb - not sandisk)
I have made a bootable usb using a windows machine - 64 bit. - the problem explained above
I have made a bootable usb using a windows machine - 32 bit. - the problem explained above
I made a bootable usb using a Mac (not the one I am trying to make into a chromebook) again 64 bit. Again I get the same problem mentioned above.
What have I done to the machine.
I have reset the SMC on the mac.
I have reset the NVRAM.
A few years ago I swapped the original HDD with an SSD. The machine boots the MacOS but it slow.
Any help will be much appreciated.
