I have problems with my keyboard backlight. Fn keys just do not work. I have an ASUS N76VZ - it is not supported but I think it should be easily fixable by someone who knows how this stuff (acpi, key events etc.) works given the following:
under /sys/class/leds/asus... something.. I have identified the device that the "backlight controller" is, so I can write bits onto that and programmatically change the backlight from console.
under /sys/...events there is an event, event9 for Fn+F3/F4 which are keyboard backlight keys.
With 'evtest' I saw that this event is "triggered" every time I press the Fn+F3/F4. - I have the appropriate kernel modules loaded, asus_wmi for example.
I tried to boot using acpi_osi=Linux, this results in enabled keyboard backlight at startup, but the keys still don't do anything.
So the problem is that despite the facts I presented above, the keys do not do anything.
