Just completed the installation of cloudready on a Toshiba TECRA A9
processor Intel core duo 2 T7100 1.8 GHz - 3 Gb
Despite what windows tell you, it is a X86- 64 processor so you have to use the x64 version of cloudready
You will need to access the bios to change the boot drive to USB
Boot Priority - HDD priority = USB ---- Built - in HDD
Hold escape key when powering until the beep sound. Then use F1 key
Prepare the USB boot drive as per the cloudready instructions
Install the OS following the instructions . The full installation took about 30 minutes an(after the black screen show up) wait the power goes off completely.
Remove the USB boot drive
power-up the laptop and access the BIOS
Change the following settings in the BIOS
BOOT Priority - HDD Priority = Built-in HDD --- USB
Others - Core multiprocessing - enabled
Others - Dynamic CPU frequency mode = Always high
Execute-disable bit capability = Not available
Virtualisation technology = Disabled
Auto Power on = Disabled
Diagnostic mode = Disabled
USB sleep and charge = Disabled
Security controller - TPM = Disabled
There may bee other settings that would work but this is the first one that worked for me and I did not want to try other configurations.
The normal boot time of the machine is
about 15 sec to get to the cloud ready logo
add 1 min 15 sec to get to the login page
add 15 sec to get to full operation
Total boot time is just slightly less that 1 min 45 sec. Substantially better than under the window vista standard configuration.
It is now a pretty fast machine .
Hope this will help others to make the conversion.
Thanks Neverware for making this product free for home usage
