Your Yoga 11e is pretty new (5th gen I think, compared to our latest certified Yoga which is a 3rd gen).

based on your description, your issue is probably one of the following:

    1) Your usb is somehow not imaged properly. You've already controlled for the issue being the USB device itself by testing 2 different ones (nice job), so the other good test here is to take your USB installer and try booting it on a different device - even a friend's PC will do, just to confirm that the USB works in some devices.

    2) If your USB works elsewhere but not in your particular Yoga 11e, then maybe there's no support in our kernel for this relatively new chipset. The only solution to that would be to try v75.1 which has a significantly upgraded kernel (4.14 > 4.19). You can't try this preview release of v75.1 to see if that works better.

Would A MacBook Air Early 2015 work?

Update: it doesn't work. I don't have another uefi device in my house.

The preview release link doesn't work.

I would expect a 2015 MBAir to work Benjamin - can you describe what went wrong?

What happened with my mac was I followed the standard process of booting from an alternate drive: powered off my mac, held the option key down on boot, and selected the USB drive. After this, it just booted into MacOS as normal. As I'm typing this, the preview release is extracting and I'll be posting my results here soon.

UPDATE: The preview release works! I'm writing this update on it now. Thanks for that. but now I have 2 questions:

    1. when will this preview release be released as a main (stable) release? I ask this because although the preview release boots, it has already crashed twice, the first crash being from downloading a file and, the second being from unknown causes. (Although it was running off of the install image, I did have enough space to download this file)

    2. How can I install cloudready to a external drive? I'd install cloudready to my internal SSD but, this is a school computer i'm on so I can't exactly do that without getting in trouble.

Try turing off AHCI mode. I have just successfully installed to a Lenovo E530C Thinkpad, and it "Blackscreened" when in AHCI mode. Switched that off, and reinstalled, it's good to go !

You can update on the dev channel to a newer version of v75.1 which should be somewhat more stable, but v76 will come to stable channels later this summer.

I don't have a solution to install on an external drive, we don't officially support that. There are some discussions around these forums for installing on external drives or expanding the available storage on USB sticks, so you are free to find and pursue those, but you're best off finding a device you can permanently install on.
