Tim, Accessing your BIOS is the first step. You need to make sure that the MS files are launching first. Then you can back up your data. Here is a good article:

Hi Bidwell, I cannot boot up windows now, I think the cloudready USB boot did change my windows boot record even I did not install cloudready and quit the installation, how can I change back to boot up windows without delete my files? Cam I copy the windows boot record back?

If you started the install and quit some of your files may be gone.

But I did not click the install yet, on the very first Welcome screen, I just click "shout down" only. I suppose the install program will quit to windows or reboot. I am trying to fixboot the windows bootrec but still not success. Does anyone help?

Could you tell me what actually cloudready has been done with Windows when it boot up from USB? So I may recover it by reversing the process (hopefully). Appreciated your help.

If you live boot from USB there are no changes to your device that CloudReady makes. Only if you start the install process will any changes be made.

What is the error you are seeing? It sounds like Windows is starting to boot but thinks it's corrupted.

Did you make any BIOS changes before booting to the USB installer?

    Hi llya,
It is strange that I did not click install, just right after I click on "shut down" and I restart my laptop, the windows cannot boot up and the windows repairing screen showing up, seems the boot record is missing, meanwhile I did not change any BIOS setting.

    Hi Tim,

If the Windows repairing screen is showing up most likely the boot record is intact. Do you have any options on the repair screen such as booting with safe mode?

Thank you for investigating my issue.

I've got this error after boot:

    After clicking F1.

I did all the repairing options but all unsuccess.

I even try the Command Prompt to rebuild BCD, from this information: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/605963/the-boot-configuration-data-file-doesnt-contain-valid-information/

But still no luck for me.

Additional information: I did replace another HD with new windows installed into this laptop, it runs perfectly, so I think it is only related to the Windows Boot instead of the BIOS.

    Hi All,

I give up on investigating the issue. Luckily, I can backup my files by taking out the HD and install into another computer, Thanks for your help.
