Feature Request(s) - Scheduled Crostini Backup, automated updates within Linux VM.
These feature requests are most likely something that could/would be quick-passed to the ChromiumOS / ChromeOS developers (if deemed appropriate):
Within ChromiumOS Settings > Apps > Developers > Linux Development Environment, there are options to manually backup the Linux VM environment to a chosen location. This is a useful tool for recovering the linux environment should it become broken or unusable as a result of an internal issue, or as a result of a ChromiumOS version update issue.
Whilst useful, the backup relies upon the operator (Problem in Chair, Not in Computer) remembering to regularly backup their linux VM. A setting to allow the scheduled backup of the linux vm to a specified location would improve the chances of recovering a recent linux vm should it be necessary.
The Linux VM also relies on the operator (Chair-Keyboard Interface Error) remembering to run update commands within the crostini environment to update any linux applications installed. It would be useful if there were settings or documented processes that could automate the update of linux apps and environment files within the linux vm.
