    This is not a certified device, so no evidence it should work.

    The cert model nearest to this says try USB 2.0 device instead of 3.0.

    Also note the release notes refers to macbooks not macbook pros.

    Not many macs work these days think only 11 are certified.

    Thanks for your reply and suggestions.  I can report that  the USB 2.0 device did not get this Macbook Pro running so I'll keep running that on MacOS.   However I was inspired to try another  aged computer a HP mini 2 with atom  processor and now have that up and running with cloudready which is superb.

    CR is great OS, probably first real consumer OS for desktops, but yeah problem is getting to work on all machines, massive massive job. If could achieve just 70% machine coverage would be miracle really, don't think people realise how difficult job that is.
